This season, WOOD Hotel & Spa presents two series of winemaker masterclasses, designed as accessible moments of sharing—driven by curiosity, the pleasure of discovering, listening and tasting.

Each session takes place in a small group, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging conversation, questions and, quite simply, the enjoyment of wine.

February – Clos de Vènes Masterclass

Sophie & Christophe Jacquel – Clos de Vènes

Journey to the Languedoc, in the heart of the Corbières Minervois appellation, at the foothills of the Montagne Noire.
This is where Sophie and Christophe Jacquel cultivate Clos de Vènes, an independent estate where wine is conceived as a singular creation, closely connected to nature and each vintage.

At Clos de Vènes, their work gives rise to true author wines, crafted freely according to grape varieties, the character of each year and the inspiration of the moment.
The vineyards are farmed organically, with particular attention paid to soils and biodiversity. Production is deliberately limited, favouring a direct relationship between winemaker and taster—sometimes outside established frameworks—to allow the true character of each cuvée to express itself fully.

During this masterclass, Sophie and Christophe Jacquel share their philosophy, their daily work and the identity of their wines, in a simple and accessible spirit of exchange.

The masterclass includes:

February – Domaine des Chasseignes Masterclass

Domaine des Chasseignes is first and foremost a family story, passed down from father to daughter.
It is also the meeting of two wine enthusiasts, Aurore Dezat and David Girard, a couple of winemakers driven by the desire to unite their visions of the vineyard and of wine.

In the village of Sury-en-Vaux, at the heart of the Sancerre appellation, they cultivate Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir across the three great Sancerre terroirs—terres blanches, caillottes and flint-rich clays—now engaged in conversion to organic farming.

From this attentive work emerge expressive and elegant wines, guided by freshness, minerality and finesse, faithfully revealing the identity of their grape varieties and terroirs.
An ideal tasting to discover the diversity and precision of Sancerre wines, around a confidential estate, in an intimate, accessible and convivial format.

April – Domaine Bréchet Masterclass

WOOD Hotel & Spa is delighted to welcome Laurent Bréchet, a Rhône Valley winemaker and heir to a long family tradition, for three exclusive evenings at L’Atelier du Vin.

Through his estates—most notably Château de Vaudieu, one of the great names of Châteauneuf-du-Pape—Laurent Bréchet explores a mosaic of terroirs with remarkably refined expressions. The wines tasted during this masterclass reflect this diversity: reds with an elegant tannic structure, marked by the generosity of Grenache and the complexity of blends, alongside precise, well-balanced whites driven by freshness and minerality.

Parcel-by-parcel work, rigorous grape selection and carefully mastered ageing give rise to cuvées that are generous, nuanced and accessible—ideal for understanding the signature of the great wines of the Southern Rhône.

During this masterclass, Laurent Bréchet shares his approach, his choices as a winemaker and the keys to reading the wines tasted, in an intimate format designed for exchange and discovery.
